Piano students

You will find here the experiences of some of Antoniya’s old and current piano students.

Monika

MonikaI have had the great pleasure to have Antonia as my piano teacher for two years now. I am currently in the 7th grade in Trinity College, which corresponds to the second last year of the program. When Antonia recently moved to Holland, we continued to work together over Skype, four hours per week.

In the ten years of my musical education, Antonia is the best piano teacher I have ever had. Her ability to make even the most obscure and tiresome topics comprehensive and exciting greatly amplified my passion for music. When teaching theory, she presents the material in depth, relating it to the pieces I’m learning. Her explanations always lead us beyond the program. When I’m learning a new piece, she pays close attention to technical details that bring the music to life, illustrating the uniqueness and beauty of every piece. Also, we lead discussions comparing the style and character of different pieces by different composers, broadening my musical culture.

Antonia is also extremely kind, understanding, encouraging and overall a wonderful person. When listening to her playing the piano, I am always struck in awe and immediately motivated to do my best. I strongly recommend Antonia to anyone who dreams of achieving greatness in music.

If I had to write a testimony about Antoniya I wouldn’t know where to start. When I first met Antoniya I was stunned by her capacity to understand students immediately. She taught me for about 6 years, and my only regret is that I didn’t start learning piano with her earlier. She really helped me improve by giving me the confidence I needed. She helped me use my emotions to connect to the piece that I was playing. When she plays the piano, I just want to sit and listen to her playing all day long. During exams she was able to naturally calm me down and she is so motivating. She can play a song for the first time just by reading the piece once. If I had to respond to why you should have Antoniya as your piano teacher? Well my simple answer is that she’s the best you could ever have and the most inspirational teacher in the world. She brings joy and at least a laugh every lesson.

In the two years Antoniya taught me, I’ve not only learned how to play the piano, but to understand it and feel the music in my heart. Without her, I would have never understood what it means to play with your heart and to let your heart speak in the music. She has inspired me in many ways and I am grateful for everything she has done for me. She is not only my teacher, but my friend (partly because I met her in China!). I hope to be able to inspire piano players and many others, the way Antoniya inspired me. Thank you for everything, you truly are an amazing teacher!

Christelle

ChristelleSince I started playing the piano, teachers have come and gone too many times for me to count, but only two of these teachers have left a mark in my mind, heart, and in the way I play; one of them being Antonia Stoianova. For many years, Antonia has mentored me, she has been a friend, and has taught me how to play and feel music to its justice. She is an admirable woman who has a passion for music and a drive to learn, always.
